Didier Hernández (born July 18, 1979 in Cuba) is a Cuban singer who was a member of the well known boy band, Menudo. He was one of the last members of the group to join while the band was still named "Menudo".
Didier Hernández was chosen as a member of Menudo in 1995; one year later, Edgardo Díaz had sold the band's original name and renamed it MDO. Bandmates Were Abel Talamantez, Alexis Grullon, Edgar Antonio Galindo and Pablo Portillo as bandmates, among others.
During his seven years as a member of MDO, Hernández became a teen idol in Puerto Rico, and, perhaps to a lesser extent, across Latin America and visited Europe and Asia a total of 39 Countries around the world becoming known Artist among teenage Hispanic females in the United States. Hernández recorded a total of seven CDs during this period, including Tiempo de Amar ("Time to Fall in Love"), MDO, Un Poco Mas ("A Little More"), Subir Al Cielo (which was also recorded in English as Little Piece of Heaven), and a "greatest hits" CD.
By 2001, MDO was going through some managerial problems. Grullon left the group without any previous signs of trouble. MDO continued until Feb 2003 and Díaz decided to take a recess with Menudo/MDO until 2005. One of Hernandez's last concerts as a member of MDO was in Phoenix, Arizona, alongside Pilar Montenegro and Eduardo Verastegui. He has performed in stages with many Artists including Jacie Velazquez, Destiny's Child, Enrique Iglesias, Son By Four, Olga Tañón, Joey McIntyre between many others.
Hernández continued with his singing career, trying to become a solo singer. After 1 year of music production he was signed by a label distributed by Sony/BMG named Avalon, and, on August 23, 2005, his first solo CD, titled Destino ("Destiny"), was released. That same day, he announced a deal with American retail chain Wal-Mart, where he would hold "sign and greet" sessions with fans that bought his CD. His first solo album (Destino) allowed Didier to touch basis with those fans that always supported his music and introduced them to the new and fresh sound of this Cuban teen idol.The first single "Diva" was released followed by "Te juro amor" (I swear to you my love") finishing a promo tour in May 2006.
He is currently in the process of recording his second production to be released in 2009.
